The "Summer School on Energy Planning of 100% Renewable Energy Systems" , held from September 2 to 6, 2024 at the Inter University Center, Dubrovnik, was focused on energy and climate modeling of smart energy systems along with dynamic modeling of relevant ecological, economic, sociological and technical parameters.
24 participants from 16 different countries took part in the summer school. In addition to acquiring new knowledge, the participants used the full potential of the summer school and had a lot of fun, met new friends, colleagues or possible partners in future projects and research!

The updated list for citation year 2022 includes 18 members of the SDEWES International Scientific Committee in the 2% of the most influential scientists in the world today!

Kalogirou, Şiir Kılkış, Walter Leal Filho, Henrik Lund, Christos Markides, Brian Vad Mathiesen, Poul Alberg Østergaard, Antonio Piacentino, Rodney A. Stewart, Petar Sabev Varbanov, Subhas K. Sikdar, Qiuwang Wang and Xiliang Zhang for this great achievement.
The list has been made and updated by a group of researchers from Stanford University led by professor John Ioannidis. They surveyed scientists around the world from different fields using Scopus database. separate data are shown for career-long and single year impact. Both lists are available here.

Povjerenstvo Međunarodnog centra za održivi razvoj energetike, voda i okoliša (SDEWES Centre) odabralo je tri najbolja diplomska rada studenata Fakulteta strojarstva i brodogradnje za 2022./2023. Autori najboljih radova su 1. Karlo Kvaternik, 2. Marko Starčević i 3. Jan Karl Ormuž. Prvoplasirani će biti nagrađen s novčanom nagradom od 1.000,00 EUR bruto, a drugo i trećeplasirani imaju pravo na besplatnu kotizaciju za jednu od SDEWES konferencija koje će se održati 2024. godine. Čestitamo!

Međunarodni centar za održivi razvoj energetike, voda i okoliša (SDEWES Centre) raspisuje natječaj za nagrađivanje diplomskih radova studenata Fakulteta strojarstva i brodogradnje Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Pravo prijave imaju svi studenti s diplomskim radom obranjenim u akademskoj godini 2022./2023. s ocjenom izvrstan i s temom iz područja održivog razvoja energetike, voda i okoliša. Prva nagrada se sastoji od novčane nagrade u iznosu 1.000,00 EUR bruto. Prijave se šalju zaključno sa 16. listopada 2023. godine na email: diplomski@sdewes.org. Potrebno je poslati ispunjen obrazac za prijavu, diplomski rad i prijepis ocjena diplomskog studija.

Project 'COASTENERGY' was declared the best EU project in Croatia in the category 'Contribution to science and innovation'. In this year's selection for the "Best County EU" project in Croatia, among 37 other candidates, the winner in the "Contribution to science and innovation" category was the Istrian County project COASTENERGY - Blue energy in ports and coastal urban areas. The project also won third place according to the popular public votes. SDEWES Centre participated in the project as a project partner in charge of the WP3.

Autori najboljih radova su Dino Kovačević u ak. godini 2019./20. te Dominik Rašić u ak. godini 2020./21. 20 members of the SDEWES International Scientific Committee were listed among the 2% most influential scientists in the world today in the updated list for citation year 2020. The list has been made and updated by a group of researchers from Stanford University led by professor John Ioannidis. They surveyed 100,000 top scientists using Scopus database and classified them into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields.
“We have created a publicly available database that provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator”, the authors explained.

SDEWES Centre has awarded the best graduate theses in the past academic year of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in the field of sustainable development of energy, water and the environment systems. A committee consisting of Prof. Nataša Markovska, Prof. Nikola Ružinski and Prof. Aleksander Zidanšek made a decision on the three best graduate theses and the best authors are Mario Majdandžić, Luka Pavlinek and Vanja Kušen. Best thesis author, Mario Majdandžić will receive a cash prize in the amount of 5,000 HRK and the other two authors will receive a fee waiver for one of SDEWES conferences in 2018. Congratulations!

All graduate students that have defended their thesis in academic year 2015/2016 are eligible for contest. Applications need to be sent by September 1^st, 2016. Contest details are below.

Project name:	S2Biom – Delivery of sustainable supply of non-food biomass to support a “resource-efficient” Bioeconomy in Europe

+ Description:	The main aim of S2Biom project is to support the sustainable delivery of non-food biomass feedstock at local, regional and pan European level through developing strategies, and roadmaps that will be informed by a “computerized and easy to use” toolset (and respective databases) with update harmonized datasets at local, regional, national and pan European level for EU27, western Balkans, Turkey and Ukraine. The project will build up a concise knowledge base both for the sustainable supply and logistics of non-food biomass (quantities, costs, technological pathway options for 2020 and beyond), for the development of technology and market strategies to support the development of a “resource efficient” Bioeconomy for Europe. SDEWES centre in S2Biom project coordinates a group of experts from Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia and Moldova who collect data on forest, waste and different residuals from agriculture and industry sectors. Furthermore, S2Biom model will be tested in SDEWES expert’s countries and legislation framework in the field of bioenergy will be analysed. Research group: prof.dr.sc.
