According to the Statute of SDEWES centre any natural and legal person can, under the same circumstances become a member of SDEWES Centre.

The members shall sign a membership admittance form. Membership admittance form obliges the signee to honor the provisions of the Statute and other SDEWES Centre by-laws and documents, as well as the decisions of the SDEWES Centre bodies.

Members of the SDEWES centre are:

  1. Regular members,
  2. Supporting members,
  3. Honorary members.

1. Regular members

Regular member of the SDEWES Centre can be a natural or a legal person participating in performing activities of the Centre.

Regular members of the SDEWES Centre pay a yearly membership fee (expires on the 31st of December). Membership fee for the year 2024 (amounts from 1.1.2025) shall consist of two parts:

  • Enrolment fee – 50 EUR (Regular and Supporting members are exempt from paying the enrolment fee),
  • and Category fee
    • Regular full membership fee – 650 EUR (750 EUR)
    • SAB membership fee – 550 EUR (650 EUR)
    • Student membership fee (BSc, MSc and PhD students) – 350 EUR (400 EUR)
    • Countries in transition and development – 350 EUR (400 EUR) (researchers studying/working in developing countries whose GDP is not higher than 8000 USD per capita: List of countries by GDP (nominal) per capita

Authors who are invited in SDEWES Conference special sessions are not eligible to apply for reduced fee.

SDEWES Conference participants who settled their Conference fee receive one year complimentary membership in SDEWES Centre (it cannot be used to waive another conference fee).

If you plan to use the membership for one of the conference in 2025, please check the respective conference website for the final date available for membership transfer. Starting from September 1st of the current year, one can choose to either settle the fee for the current or for the upcoming year.

Membership payments can be used only as a fee waiver for the conference in a year in which the membership is active!

Note that the membership fee is NON-REFUNDABLE! In case of using the membership as conference fee waiver and canceling the conference participation, refund is made only to additional conference payments (accomp. persons, additional papers, etc...)

2. Supporting members

The status of a supporting member of the SDEWES Centre can be granted to a physical and a legal person which is regularly supporting the development and advancement of the Centre and realization of the Centre’s program by significant financial and other contributions. The status of a supporting member of the SDEWES Centre is gained upon the invitation of the Management Board.

Any natural or legal person who was a regular member of the Centre at least once since the Centre’s establishment will also become a supporting member of the Association.

3. Honorary members

The status of an honorary member of SDEWES Centre can be granted to a person with outstanding merit for the work, development and realization of the objectives and tasks of the Centre.

Honorary members are exempt from paying the membership fee.

Benefits for the members:

Regular members shall be entitled:

  • to elect and be elected into the governing bodies of the SDEWES Centre,
  • to take part in the activities of the SDEWES Centre,
  • to propose and initiate discussion on the topics relevant to the activity of the SDEWES Centre,
  • to have insight into all activities of the SDEWES Centre and into the information material that the SDEWES Centre has collected and prepared,
  • to participate in the sessions of the SDEWES Centre Assembly.

Supporting members and honorary members have the same rights as regular members, yet without the decision-making power and cannot elect and be elected in the governing bodies of the Association.

SDEWES Centre members have access to Proceedings from all past SDEWES Conferences.
If you plan to use the membership for one of the conference in 2024, please check the respective conference website for the final date available for membership transfer.

The members who are also SDEWES centre Management Board members, Local Organizing Committee members, Supervisory Board members and International Scientific Committee members, as well as the Scientific Advisory Board chairman are exempt from paying the membership fee during their mandate.

Members of the Association are obliged:

  • to honour the decisions passed by the governing bodies of the SDEWES Centre,
  • to comply with the provisions of the Statute,
  • to act with the purpose of achieving and advancing the objectives of the SDEWES Centre,
  • to give proposals, opinions and observations concerning the SDEWES Centre and governing bodies activities,
  • to warn the Management Board in written form in case of discontinuities in Statute implementation,
  • to propose appointment and relieving of duty to the Assembly concerning Chairman of the SDEWES Centre, Management Board members and Supervisory Board members,
  • to regularly pay the membership fee.

Membership in the SDEWES centre shall cease by:
  • resigning from the membership,
  • expulsion; in case a member has, through his acting to the contrary of the provisions of this Statute and other documents, caused serious harm to the interests and reputation of the SDEWES centre,
  • lapsing; in case a regular member has failed to fulfil his financial obligations towards the Association until 31st December of current year for the next year, i.e. paying a membership/registration fee in the amount set by the Assembly.

  • The "Summer School on Energy Planning of 100% Renewable Energy Systems" , held from September 2 to 6, 2024 at the Inter University Center, Dubrovnik, was focused on energy and climate modeling of smart energy systems along with dynamic modeling of relevant ecological, economic, sociological and technical parameters.
    24 participants from 16 different countries took part in the summer school. In addition to acquiring new knowledge, the participants used the full potential of the summer school and had a lot of fun, met new friends, colleagues or possible partners in future projects and research!

  • Project 'COASTENERGY' was declared the best EU project in Croatia in the category 'Contribution to science and innovation'. In this year's selection for the "Best County EU" project in Croatia, among 37 other candidates, the winner in the "Contribution to science and innovation" category was the Istrian County project COASTENERGY - Blue energy in ports and coastal urban areas. The project also won third place according to the popular public votes. SDEWES Centre participated in the project as a project partner in charge of the WP3.

  • Povjerenstvo Međunarodnog centra za održivi razvoj energetike, voda i okoliša (SDEWES Centre) odabralo je tri najbolja diplomska rada studenata FSB-a za 2019./20. te za 2020./21. Autori najboljih radova su Dino Kovačević u ak. godini 2019./20. te Dominik Rašić u ak. godini 2020./21.   • 20 members of the SDEWES International Scientific Committee were listed among the 2% most influential scientists in the world today in the updated list for citation year 2020. The list has been made and updated by a group of researchers from Stanford University led by professor John Ioannidis. They surveyed 100,000 top scientists using Scopus database and classified them into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields.
    “We have created a publicly available database that provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator”, the authors explained.
